Project Alternatives
As part of the NEPA process, the FAA independently identifies and evaluates alternatives to the Proposed Project. These include a No Action Alternative, as well as alternatives identified during the scoping process for the EIS.
An initial list of alternatives has been developed for the EIS. Alternatives have been grouped into the following “families”:

No Build Alternatives, which do not include any physical improvements to the SAT airfield.

Build Alternatives that retain Runway 4-22.

Build Alternatives that include decommissioning of Runway 4-22.
Additionally, construction phasing, while not identified as a distinct alternative, will also need to be considered in the evaluation of alternatives.
